Dear Colleague Letter: Invitation for Proposal to Conduct Indo-US Collaborative Research

Dear Collaborator,

OPPORTUNITY

IDAPT Hub Foundation, IIT (BHU) Varanasi wishes to inform about its initiative to support project proposals for conducting Indo-US Collaborative Research, in partnership with National Science Foundation (NSF), USA. IDAPT Hub Foundation, IIT (BHU) Varanasi would like to invite you to submit the project proposal in broader technology area of Data Analytics and Predictive Technology and its applications, in collaboration with your US counterpart. The financial support available under this initiative is anticipated to be for up to INR 10 million (including the consultancy charges for PI and Co-PIs, which will be limited to a maximum of 20% of project budget). The support will be for periods of up to one year and will be in-line with the support period of the US collaborator.

NSF has developed a document (Dear Colleague Letter: DCL) to inform its research community of its intention to pursue US-India collaborative research, and the document is posted here. The document defines eligibility, proposal formats, selection criteria and mechanisms for funding the joint work. Topical priorities for US-India collaborations are Data Analytics and Predictive Technology (DAPT) and its applications specially in thrust areas of Power, Telecommunications, Road Transport and Highways, and Health and Family Welfare. ELIGIBILITY

Researchers in the field of topical priority areas as mentioned above may propose a collaborative project with their US counterpart. Indian researchers, experts can identify potential US counterpart via information posted here. The financial assistance may be used by the project team to support the time of the PI, co-PIs, other senior personnel, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students, undergraduate students or travel to conduct collaborative research with US researchers.

HOW TO APPLY

All project proposals will be subjected to IDAPT Hub Foundation, IIT (BHU) Varanasi proposal evaluation process. The proposals should be submitted to coordinator.idapt@iitbhu.ac.in. Each project proposal must follow the same format as specified Project Proposal Format and must be in the same scope as the proposal submitted in response to a Dear Colleague Letter (DCL) from the NSF. Some of the indicative areas for the prospective Indian PI/Co-PIs are mentioned in Indicative Areas. The content in the project proposal should be organized by addressing the following items:

  • Executive Summary covering the gist of the entire proposal
  • The project description (this should be the same as submitted to the NSF)
  • Bio-sketch of the US lead partner (one page)
  • Deliverables, Project timelines and major milestones
  • Details of budget and resources with a justification for the same

WHEN TO APPLY

The deadline for submission of project proposal for consideration is within a week of submission of a proposal to the NSF. This Invitation for Proposal of Indo- US collaborative research will remain active till April 25, 2022 for the first round of screening.
